The Six Steps of Canadian Immigration

Each immigration program has its unique steps and requirements. However, they can all be summarized in the following six steps:

Step 1: Preliminary Assessment

In the first step, we’ll assess your situation to determine whether you’re eligible based on the more than 60 immigration categories available. When we have identified the appropriate category and if you qualify for that category, we must act quickly because Immigration programs are very dynamic, and programs can be cancelled without notice.

Step 2: File Preparation

RPR CAN Immigration INC. will become your official representative when you decide to move forward. To present you in the best possible light with the Canadian government, we will establish a plan to build your file. This stage is where the bulk of the work occurs, and we will work closely with you to complete your file as soon as possible. Upon completion, your file will undergo a final check and be sent to the Government of Canada. You will receive a file number from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Your file is now “in process”. You must inform us of any changes to your situation or circumstances immediately!

Step 3: Interview

Following the review of your application by the immigration officials, you will be called for an interview. During the consultation, the officer will examine various areas of your application and request clarification if necessary. We will work with you to ensure that you understand the process and are well prepared. You may be granted a waiver and exempt from an interview. This means that your application is very clear, and the examining officials do not need to meet with you. After the discussion is complete, the officer will provide feedback, noting whether they are satisfied or has concerns. Based on the feedback, further action will be taken.

Step 4: Medical

Once you reach this point in the process, you are guaranteed to receive a visa. You need to visit a “Designated Medical Professional” for your final health check. Your doctor can’t do the medical exam. After undergoing a medical examination for immigration to Canada, the doctor will not inform you of the exam results unless you have a severe health problem that requires immediate medical attention. The doctor will not provide a “pass” or “fail” grade on your exam but instead passes all of the information along to Citizenship and Immigration Canada, who will make the final decision. If there is a problem, you will be told in writing. Once you are given the green light on your health check, you will have your passport stamped with your visa.

Step 5: Pre-departure

CONGRATULATIONS! Things start to get real now! Your visa to travel to Canada has been approved. Just in a few months, you will be in Canada. Trust me; not everyone will get this privilege of coming to Canada and making Canada your new home. It is time to wrap things up in your country and make final arrangements to arrive in Canada. We will work closely with you and ensure that you will receive all the resources and information to get off to the right start in Canada.

Step 6: Settlement

WOOHOOO! You are in Canada now, and it’s time to settle into your new home. RPR CAN Immigration Inc. has taken care of your entry into the country. No need to worry; we offer additional services to guide you in your settlement so that your transition is smooth and comfortable.
