Refugee Group of Five
The Group of Five (G5) program allows five Canadian citizens or permanent residents to sponsor a refugee to come to Canada. Each member of the group has to be at least 18 years old and live or have representatives wherein the refugee will settle.
The group must support the sponsored person financially for the refugee for the duration of the sponsorship period (usually one year), including monthly income support.
The Group of 5 can only sponsor applicants recognized as refugees by either UNHCR (United Nations Refugee Agency) or a foreign state. The applicant must include the documental proof of recognized refugee status in the refugee sponsorship application.
As a caregiver, you can choose between two caregiver pilots: either Home Child Care Provider Pilot (HCCP) or Home Support Worker Pilot (HSWP). Both caregiver pilots are of a 5-year duration.
